Володимир Онищенко

Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", honored employee of education of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, Professor Vladimir Onishchenko - charismatic speaker and progressive head of the University. Thanks to his constant commitment to innovations in education and synchronization with the needs of business the state economy is based on, the University has become an international authoritative educational, scientific, intellectual and cultural center - the leader in the market of educational services. The modern university with longstanding educational and scientific tradition is especially appreciated by employers. Collaboration with the oil and gas business has been extremely effective. Vladimir Onishchenko says that current main requirement of the time is quality training of specialists, and modern universities play a special role in the strategy of ensuring energy independence of Ukraine.

National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" is dynamically developing. Rebranding took place in December last year - the University was

transformed into a higher education institution of the classical type and the name was updated: National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic." A new page for the University with 200 years of educational tradition, 90 years of scientific experience and modern innovations, opened publicly and solemnly - the presentation gathered members of the University’s Supervisory and Academic Councils, academicians of the NAS of Ukraine, rectors and scientists of leading universities, representatives of local and student government, national and regional press at the University’s Contemporary Art Center.

“We introduce modern trends and approaches to teaching, 8 structural units function efficiently at the University, about 6,000 students, of which 500 are foreigners, study at the University” the rector says. “The University is actively integrating into the global educational community, is a member of the Magna Carta of Universities, expanding the geography of about one hundred international partners. Unique programs of academic exchanges with foreign partner universities, international internships, teaching in English (we were among the first to introduce the teaching of engineering disciplines in English), the opportunity to get a double diploma (issued by our University and the universities of Poland, Germany, Great Britain) and the most modern material and technical base in the Poltava region - all this is at the disposal of our students. I’m proud of our graduates prestigious companies hunt for. We have recruiting sessions on an ongoing basis. We train highly qualified and successful professionals. Our future - the economic development of our state - belongs to them. We thank to business representatives who invest in education, new staff for their companies. This is a high rate of trust and quality.”

One of the forms of cooperation is our traditional International Industry Forums. National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" for the fifth time brought together top managers of key participants in the oil and gas market of Ukraine and leading international companies. It took several years to pass from the idea of creating such a professional community to its successful implementation, and each forum is highly effective for both business and University.

“This suggests that we managed to implement the idea - the University has become a platform for dialogue between education, science, government and business. First of all, it is important to demonstrate the role of higher education institutions as a platform for effective dialogue between representatives of the industry,” the rector said.
A separate priority we assign to the development of the material and technical resources and creation of conditions for training specialists who will not have to be retrained. Over the past few years, the University involved investments from leading international companies. 3D visualization and modeling laboratory was opened backed by leading oil and gas companies Shlumberger and Ukrgasvydobuvannya. According to a memorandum with Shlumberger, we installed Petrel, Eclipse, Techlog software worth EUR 1.1 million.
DTEK Neftegaz and Geosynthesis Engineering LLC invested UAH 3 million to create a research and production laboratory to study drilling fluids and flushing fluids. The laboratory is certified according to the DSTU ISO 10012 requirements to carry out scientific work at the request of enterprises and organizations.

Our cooperation with SiemensUkraine resulted in a unique ultramodern digital technology laboratory, which is currently the best in Ukraine, priced at tens of millions of hryvnias.
The V International Industrial Forum was of no exception. So, within the current forum, the rector of the university Vladimir Onishchenko, together with WellsiteDigital CEO Igor Vitrik, opened a training center to train and certificate oil and gas specialists according to the IWCF standards. It is equipped with modern simulators from the global manufacturer - DrillingSystems - DrillSim 50 and DrillSim:Educator. This ambitious project was implemented in a very short time: it took only three months from the idea to the opening, full of daily hard work.

“We and our business partners very quickly respond to the challenges, to the needs of business and society. The creation of new laboratories and training centers is another step to combine the efforts of education and business to train specialists with high professional competencies. This is an opportunity for education and training of specialists capable of dealing with advanced technologies. At that, the University as a modern powerful innovation center has enough resources and opportunities for training and advanced training not only of students, but also teachers, industry workers and providing services to leading oil and gas companies. It is this that largely contributes to the development of the fuel and energy complex and higher level of energy independence of Ukraine,” Vladimir Onishchenko comments. “We are always ready to support innovative ideas that facilitate the development of education and business. For example, we share the idea of Igor Shchurov, DTEK Neftegaz CEO, to create a powerful oil and gas hub to accumulate new trends in the development of the industry, innovative technologies, international startups and experts from the international oil and gas market. It is an effective tool to introduce new technologies in Ukraine and create a platform to solve complex cases of oil and gas companies to increase natural gas production.”

As Vladimir Onishchenko says, the University is ready to become a member of such a hub and other projects and is open for cooperation. Building up educational and business capacities is the key to the development of the oil and gas and energy sectors as a whole.
