What was the last year for you?
This year was full of challenges, but at the same time it was interesting, full of bright events and impressions, new discoveries and achievements.
This is a year of continuous development, extraordinary victories and the search for creative solutions.
The markable event of the year was the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University.
Despite the imposed quarantine restrictions, the activities of the University took place in a format that ensured a high level of educational, research and innovation activities, as well as helped implement a number of large-scale and ambitious projects in cooperation with business partners.
What, in your opinion, should be done first to restore the industry and successfully move forward in the new environment?
Recovery, development and stability of the industry, in my opinion, largely depend on the professionals of the industry. Therefore, our priority as a leading institution of higher education, which takes care of the formation of human resources of the oil and gas industry, is an innovative and technological approach to training specialists in close cooperation with business partners. An important factor is to ensure the conditions for implementing the interests of all stakeholders.
What do you consider the main achievement of the year? (Personal/your company’s)
For me, as for everyone, the most valuable achievement is the success of my children, my family. The University is, without a doubt, my "big family". This is why it is difficult for me to divide personal achievements from the achievements of the Poltava Polytechnic. I am always proud of the victories of the University, the success of each teacher and each student.
It should be noted that the strategic goal of the Poltava Polytechnic is to create a highly rated modern innovative university, and we already have significant achievements. In 2020, Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University ranked first among the Universities of the Poltava region in the U-Multirank 2020 world ranking. In terms of the International Orientation rate, the University entered the TOP-10 institutions of higher education of Ukraine.
According to the 14th annual academic ranking of higher education institutions of Ukraine TOP-200 Ukraine 2020, Poltava Polytechnic ranked first among the Universities of Poltava subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. According to the SCImago IR 2020 ranking, the University ranked fourth among higher education institutions of Ukraine and second among higher education institutions and research institutions of Ukraine in terms of research work.
Following the results of the Consolidated Rating of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine, our educational institution entered the TOP-10 best Universities of the central Ukraine and ranked first among the Universities of Poltava according to the SciVerse Scopus base pursuant to scientometric monitoring of scientific and publishing activities of Ukraine.
It is gratifying that our achievements are marked at the state level. This year, I was awarded the Order of Merit of the third degree. I believe that such a high rating is the merit of the staff of the our University.
What advice would you give to your colleagues? What will help businesses better adapt to changes?
The modern world is extremely changeable and can cause us to serious challenges any time. That is why it is necessary to be able to "hold up well". I like the phrase: "There is no word 'impossible' in my dictionary". When building a strategy for my own activities, I always believe that a journey of thousand miles begins with a single step. So, I can advise my colleagues and those like-minded to think about Winston Churchill's statement: “Why does a ship overcome waves, even though there are many of them, and only it is the one? This is because the ship has a course, and the waves do not." A person who strives for success should always have her own course, her own strategy, her own goal and belief.
What are your goals for next year?
Next year, the main tasks for our team are to continue cooperation with business structures to ensure quality training of future professionals, as well as further implementation of the policy of integration into the world educational and scientific space. Our priority in 2021 will be to strengthen the role of IT-direction to facilitate the dynamic development of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University and the growth of intellectual potential of Ukraine.
