On March 10, the VII International Industry Forum "Improving the efficiency of hydrocarbon recovery in oil and gas fields of Ukraine" took place on the basis of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University. The Forum was attended by about two hundred representatives of leading Ukrainian and international producing, drilling and service companies, scientists and managers.
Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University has traditionally become a large-scale platform for constructive dialogue between representatives of science, education, business and government. Exchange of experience and acquaintance with the results of effective implementation of projects to improve the efficiency of hydrocarbon recovery in oil and gas fields of Ukraine, acquaintance with modern technologies and equipment took place live:
In spite of lockdown restrictions caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the scale of the event is growing, the number of new participants is increasing every year. The Forum was attended by about two hundred participants - representatives of thirty oil and gas companies and institutions, local authorities, NGOs, relevant associations, scientists, teachers and students. Arranger - Poltava Engineering Center - complied with all anti-epidemiological measures and safety of the Forum participants, providing each with individual respiratory protection and antiseptics.
The opening ceremony was attended by honorary guests - Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine Roman Opimakh, Deputy Head of Poltava Regional State Administration Yevhen Grekov, Poltava Mayor Oleksandr Mamay, Head of the Labour Administration in the Poltava region Serhiy Shcherbak, CEO of NTP Burova Tekhnika, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University Vitaliy Vitryk, top management of major Ukrainian oil and gas companies.

On behalf of the scientific and pedagogical staff and students of the university, the Rector thanked the partners for effectively promoting the development of material and technical base of the university, comprehensive support, promotion of a positive image of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University at state level and presented awards to DTEK Oil&Gas CEO Igor Shchurov, Geosynthesis Engineering CEO Ivan Polituchy, Weatherford Ukraine CEO Oleksandr Tertychenko, Ukrnaftagazservis CEO Igor Vitryk, NTP Burova Tekhnika CEO and Chief of the Supervisory Board of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University Vitaliy Vitryk and GPU Poltavagasvydobuvannya CEO Andriy Misinyov.
It is worth noting that during the Forum the material and technical base of the university was finish equipped with two more innovative laboratories opened in cooperation with representatives of major oil and gas companies in the region - IDLab Multimedia Language Laboratory and Training Center. The possibility of creating such scientific projects was announced during the official celebrations dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University.
Participants of the VII International Industry Forum "Improving the efficiency of hydrocarbon recovery in oil and gas fields of Ukraine" were also greeted by the head of the Poltava city territorial community Oleksandr Mamay and the deputy head of the Poltava Regional State Administration Yevhen Grekov.
The head of the Poltava community Oleksandr Mamay praised the level of one of the main oil and gas events of the year and shared his vision of the financial and economic development of the Poltava region.

The Forum was held in the format of three sessions to mark the issues of production, resource base of increasing and intensifying hydrocarbon recovery moderated by CEO of the Poltava Engineering Center, Director of the Poltava Professional College of Oil and Gas Lyubov Shumska.
The speakers were Roman Opimakh, Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, Artem Petrenko, Executive Director of the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine, Yuri Nagornyak, Executive Director of the Oil and Gas Association of Ukraine, Andriy Kucher, Chief Technologist of NTP Burova Teknika LLC, Serhiy Yareshchenko, Head of the Field Modeling Department at DTEK Oil&Gas, Serhiy Nos, Training and Development Manager at Wellsite Digital, Roman Galushka, Head of Workover and CT Department at NTP Burova Tekhnika LLC, Volodymyr Boledziuk, Partner of the ArtCase Consulting Group, Yaroslav Khalak, Operations Manager of UNPS Ukrnafta PrJSC, Volodymyr Onyschenko, Rector of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University, Yuri Belugin, Deputy Director for Marketing and Sales at Novinka JSC.
For the first time, along with experienced professionals, the results of their activities were presented by scientists of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University Branimir Tsvetkovich and Petro Golub. The speakers delivered interesting reports dedicated to detail ways to improve the technology of exploration and production of oil and gas and presented promising areas of scientific and technical cooperation of the Scientific and Production Center.
Participants considered the issues of increasing the resource base as a strategic priority of leading Ukrainian oil and gas companies, construction of multi-lateral and multi-bottom wells as a tool to increase the effective development of oil and gas fields, the latest methods of downhole seismic research, discussed the results of geological research to ground the practicability of well construction at fields at late development stage, assessed the economic and energy risks awaiting the gas industry in 2021.
The Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine Roman Opimakh shared the plans of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil to reorganize its activities.
"Last year was extremely difficult for the oil and gas industry, as prices fell to their record lows, business activity fell, a large number of people lost their jobs. Now activity is gradually recovering, and the companies need to be prepared for this. The State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine drew up a list of facilities that are trustworthy and require certain investments.
The new product we offer today is a strategic mineral, a Premium line products that are used in "green" energy, the manufacture of batteries for electric cars and do not require large costs and knowledge. However, most of them are still associated with a huge risk, as there is no project that would guarantee complete success," Roman Opimakh commented.
Executive Director of the Oil and Gas Association of Ukraine Yuri Nagornyak in the report "Will the national oil and gas industry be able to make a breakthrough to be competitive with other energy sectors of the economy" analyzed the current oil and gas market of Ukraine and the risks the industry faces amidst the global pandemic.
Andriy Kucher, Chief Technologist of NTP Burova Teknika LLC, spoke about the construction of multi-lateral and multi-borehole wells as a tool to increase the effective development of oil and gas fields.
Useful practical cases on the implementation of investment projects of the Poltava Polytechnic and business were presented by the Rector of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University Professor Volodymyr Onyschenko. He told about the long-term cooperation of the university with leading oil and gas companies, expanding opportunities for internships for students and teachers, employment for graduates of oil and gas specialties. When presenting the achievements and innovative activities of the university, the Rector thanked business partners and friends for their comprehensive support and assistance to scientific and business initiatives.
Business representatives paid due attention to the implementation of projects for the development of oil and gas fields, taking into account environmental requirements, dense settlement network and man-made barriers, consideration of major problems and ways to improve the efficiency of workover and maintenance of oil and gas wells, selection and optimization of technical and technological solutions to improve the efficiency of hydrocarbon recovery at fields at late development stage and fields with unconventional hydrocarbon sources.
There was also a round table meeting that brought together experts on two key topics: "Geological Education of the XXI Century" and "Improvement of educational programs in the Drilling Wells specialty. The discussion was moderated by Volodymyr Kalynovych, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Drillers of Ukraine, Hanna Liventseva, Chairman of the Union of Geologists of Ukraine, and Maksym Kharchenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies of the Yuri Kondratyuk National University. Leading lecturers of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies of the university and the Poltava College of Oil and Gas joined the discussions.
According to Lyubov Shumska, CEO of the Poltava Engineering Center and Director of the Poltava College of Oil and Gas, it is the second time the annual industry Forum is hold amidst lockdown challenges. Despite forced anti-epidemiological measures, Poltava Engineering Center, Poltava Polytechnic and partner companies of the Forum - DTEK Oil&Gas, Wellsite Digital LLC, Weatherford Ukraine LLC, Geo-Alliance Group of Companies, NOV Group and FID Group-Fidmash - sucфcessfully coped with the task.
The large-scale oil and gas event of the year took place in compliance with all recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on the prevention and spread of coronavirus infection and social distance. During the VI International Industry Forum "Production. Intensification. Well Workover", which took place in the fall, oils and gas leaders discussed the future of the industry and the world afterwards the pandemic.
